How the AOK TPSC-04C Connects a Control Desk to a Machine Room 20 Meters Away
✓ Up to 20m active USB extension✓ Remote-powered 4-port USB-C hub✓ DIN-rail mountable✓ Locking-screw USB-C outputs✓ BC1.2, 5V/3A per port✓ Rugged metal housing✓ Built for audio/MIDI racks
In many professional studios, the equipment isn't all within arm's reach of the workstation. The control desk runs the DAW and sequencing software, while the audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, synth modules and outboard gear live in a separate machine room or equipment rack, sometimes 15 to 20 meters away.
Adding another USB hub at the computer doesn't fix this. The real problem is the distance in between. Standard passive USB cables are only reliable over a few meters, and studios that try to bridge the gap with chained extensions and adapters end up with multiple points of failure — any one connection in that chain can cause a device to drop, reset, or fail to enumerate.
What a machine-room setup actually needs is a single reliable long-distance run from the host computer, stable local power for the devices at the far end, and secure, organized connections once the signal arrives — not just more ports.
The AOK TPSC-04C is a 4-port USB-C hub designed to sit at the far end of a long USB run, not next to the computer. It mounts directly onto a DIN rail inside the equipment rack, and takes its own local power rather than relying on power carried down a long cable.
The connection is split into two purpose-built stages. A single active USB extension cable runs up to 20 meters from the host computer straight to the hub — one continuous, signal-boosted cable, not a chain of extensions and adapters. From the hub, each nearby device connects over a short locking-screw USB-C cable of 2 meters or less, so the interface, MIDI controller and synth module stay firmly plugged in even in a busy, cable-heavy rack.
The result is one organized, DIN-rail-mounted connection point for the whole machine room, powered locally and wired back to the control desk over a single reliable run.
■ Long-Range Connection A single active USB extension carries the connection up to 20 meters from the host computer to the machine room while keeping signal integrity, with no chain of adapters in between. | ▲ Reliable Device Power Each USB-C output supplies BC1.2 fast charging up to 5V/3A, drawn from local power at the rack instead of a weak signal carried the full length of the cable run. | ★ Secure Connections Locking-screw USB-C cables on every output keep devices firmly connected in a busy rack, where accidental tugs and vibration would loosen an ordinary USB-C plug. | ◆ Centralized Management DIN-rail mounting brings every rack device onto one organized connection point, instead of a scatter of individual cables run back to the control room. |
1. Host Computer to Machine Room A long active USB extension cable (up to 20 meters) runs from the host computer at the control desk directly to the TPSC-04C mounted in the machine room — a single continuous cable, not a stack of extensions. |
2. DIN-Rail Mounted, Remote Powered The hub mounts onto the equipment rack's DIN rail and takes its own 12–24V DC power supply (12V/2A recommended for the 4-port model), so every downstream port gets a full, stable power feed regardless of how long the incoming cable run is. |
3. Short, Locking Connections to Each Device From the hub, locking-screw USB-C cables of 2 meters or less connect directly to the MIDI interface, audio interface, synth module and MIDI controller sitting in the same rack. |
Studios with a Separate Machine Room Keeps the control room quiet and uncluttered while interfaces, synths and MIDI gear stay organized in a dedicated equipment room down the hall. |
Broadcast & Post-Production Audio Racks Connects an editing workstation to rack-mounted audio interfaces and control surfaces housed in a separate equipment bay. |
Live Sound & Touring Racks Links a front-of-house laptop to stage-side or backstage racks of MIDI and audio gear without running fragile cable chains across the venue. |
Houses of Worship & Campus AV Rooms Ties a control booth back to a central equipment closet where the AV and audio hardware for the whole room is installed. |

Need more ports for a larger rack? The same TPSC series is also available as TPSC-07C (7-port) and TPSC-10C (10-port), with matching mounting and cabling options.
AOK Electronics designs industrial USB connectivity products for installations where the connection has to work every day, not just on a desk. The TPSC-04C is built for exactly this kind of fixed, rack-based deployment — mounted once, wired once, and left to run.
As an OEM/ODM manufacturer, AOK can adjust port count, cable length, connector type and housing for studio integrators, AV installers and equipment manufacturers building this kind of long-distance USB setup into their own products.
